This course will be of benefit to all legal practitioners at the outset of their career, and those who would like to improve their existing abilities to manage time and pressure.
Overview
This course will introduce you to the research findings of psychologists on the effects of pressure and procrastination. Using exercises and case studies, you will understand the differences between “good” and “bad” stress, know which stressors affect you most and how to deal with them, and understand how to manage your time under pressure..
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Recognise when your body is telling you that you are feeling pressurised
- Identify the stressors which affect you the most and develop effective cognitive and behavioural coping strategies
- Avoid attractive, but ineffective, coping strategies
- Locate your optimal performance level
- Avoid or reduce activities which reduce efficiency
- Overcome your brain’s preference for procrastination with practical and simple techniques
- Act promptly and assertively when work is allocated
- Set realistic goals, manage impulsiveness and find the positive in your work
