This course is aimed at associates in corporate, banking and finance departments wanting to better understand the commercial background of their work, thus helping them to have meaningful and valuable conversations with their clients and associates.
Overview
This course will cover a wide range of financing techniques and theory. It will examine the roles and motivations of the various participants in a financial structuring – the FD of the corporate, banks and investors - and the funding choices available to the corporate in the Financial Markets. There will be a number of practical case studies throughout the course.
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Understand the sources of capital available to the corporate (debt and equity) and appreciate the FD’s perspective on the debt / equity decision
- Understand the corporate finance and balance sheet structuring theory and the financing of long term investments and working capital
- Appreciate what Short Term Borrowing Facilities are available such as overdrafts and short term advances
- Understand Bilateral and Syndicated Loans including the different types of long term loans and the syndication process
- Appreciate what is involved in Project Finance including risk–sharing and the typical operating and financing structures
- Understand the types of bonds available in the financial markets and other similar instruments
- Understand the different types of equity available
- Appreciate what is involved in Private Equity / LBOs transactions including
