This course will be of benefit to legal practitioners and trainees who are new to this area of law, and also to you if you have some experience.

Overview

This course provides you with the opportunity to gain an in depth understanding of the process of drafting, and negotiating leases for commercial property.

Using several leases as case studies, a complete analysis will allow discussion, and you will work through a complete lease, offering criticism and drafting solutions. You will become fully familiar with typical documentation and the arguments used in negotiating wording of your new leases.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

Day 1
• Obtain complete instructions for the transaction
• Understand the Code for Leasing 2020
• Utilise Model Heads of Terms
• Challenge and negotiate the draft lease.
• Describe rent reviews – types of review and detailed analysis

Day 2

• Understand assignments and subletting
• Define and describe User provisions
• Analyse a complete lease
