The New Solicitors' Code of Conduct will be implemented on 1 July 2007. The Code replaces the Solicitors' Practice Rules, Principles and Guidance as set out in the 1999 Guide to Professional Conduct of Solicitors. The new Core Rules are expected to contain completely new requirements for solicitors to operate supervision and management arrangements. These provisions will affect all solicitors, both as individuals and as principals. In addition other familiar rules have been redrafted and in some cases significantly altered. All solicitors will need to be familiar with the new Code and this course is designed to assist practitioners in making the transition from the old to the new.
Topics covered on this course will include
- The New Code and it’s structure
- The Core Duties
- Client relations
- Conflict and confidentiality
- Business management
- Avoiding discrimination
- Overview of other key changes
- Recent relevant court decisions
"A CPD certificate of completion will be provided by BPP Professional Education Limited upon request, following attendance."
