This course assumes some prior knowledge of IFRS and/or FRS 102 and is suitable for those who have worked with IFRS in practice, studied IFRS as part of their professional exams or attended IFRS - Introduction or FRS 102 – Introduction

Course Content

Most entities in the UK will be required to adopt FRS 102 or may choose to adopt IFRS in the near future, following recent developments in the UK financial reporting structure and the announcement that UK GAAP will be changing from periods starting on or after 1 January 2020 onwards.

IFRS 1 provides guidance on the first-time adoption of IFRS. Those forced to move to FRS 102 will also need to follow its principles. This case study based workshop examines the requirements of this standard and will provide practical guidance on producing your opening IFRS/FRS 102 balance sheet and restating your prior year financial statements to comply with IFRS/FRS 102.

Learning outcomes include obtaining a greater understanding of:

• Recent developments in UK GAAP and the accounting regulations to be followed by different entities.
• How to identify key conversion issues.
• How to create your opening IFRS/FRS 102 balance sheet, and exceptions from the normal requirements of IFRS/FRS 102 that can be applied when producing it.
• Presentation and disclosure requirements,
