Qualification - Certificate of Proficiency in Personal Insolvency
The CPPI is a new qualification launched in 2009. The examination is set by the Insolvency Practitioners Association (IPA).
Success in the CPPI exam will entitle you to apply for Affiliate membership of the IPA, and an Affiliate member may describe himself as an Insolvency Technician.
Studying for this qualification will give you a knowledge and understanding of options for the insolvent debtor, including areas such as bankruptcy, Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs) and non statutory solutions, such as Debt Management Plans.

Qualification - Joint Insolvency Examinations Board (JIEB) Examinations
To begin the process of becoming an Insolvency Practitioner, you need to have first passed a set of examinations called the JIEB exams (Joint Insolvency Examinations Board).
There is an increasing recognition of the need to have people with specialist knowledge and experience of handling insolvencies, and increased value in having staff with an understanding of insolvency procedure and practices.
In order to take the next step towards becoming an insolvency practitioner, you will need to pass the JIEB examinations. You can apply to sit these examinations if you are a member of a Recognised Professional Body (RPB), or have satisfied the requirements of the IPA, or Secretary of State for Trade and Industry.
