You will find this course of benefit if you are a legal practitioner, in-house legal advisor, manager or HR professional and already have a basic grounding of employment law knowledge and wish to move to the next level and gain a broad understanding of five of the more complex employment law rights and obligations.

Overview

We will cover five of the more complex employment law areas that are commonly encountered in employment practice. You will gain a broad overview of the main concepts, rights, obligations and remedies in each of these areas to build up your personal toolkit of employment law knowledge. We will reinforce your knowledge of the law and practical application of the areas studied by the use of case study examples.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

• Understand the main concepts of the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2020 and their application in a practical context in the workplace
• Identify the main categories of restrictive covenant used in practice and appreciate the circumstances in which such covenants may be enforced
• Summarise the key aspects of the Working Time Regulations 2020 and how these can be dealt with in practice
• Understand the scope of whistle-blowing protection in the workplace and its practical application
• Set out the key aspects of the unlawful deductions from wages regime contained in the Employment Rights Act 2020
